Dalotia coriaria (Atheta), also known as rove beetles, are predatory in all life stages, effectively controlling soil-dwelling pests like fungus gnats, shore flies, and the pupae of Western flower thrips. Both adults and larvae inhabit the growing media. Adult rove beetles are strong flyers, easily dispersing over large areas in search of prey. Both larvae and adults are drawn to decomposing plant material, organic matter, or algae where their prey resides.

Key Features:

  • Soil-dwelling predator, adaptable to various growing media
  • Active in both larval and adult stages, consuming 10–20 prey per day
  • Strong flyers, dispersing widely to locate food
  • Ideal for pest control in propagation environments
